How to Apply for Representation

In order to be eligible to apply for representation applicants must have:

  • Filed a human rights complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal
  • Received a letter of acceptance from the BC Human Rights Tribunal that clearly states, "The BC Human Rights Tribunal has accepted this complaint for filing... "
  • Applied to us within 30 days of receiving the letter of acceptance from the BC Human Rights Tribunal

To apply for representation with the BC Human Rights Clinic applicants must send us copies of the following documents:

  • The BC Human Rights Tribunal Form 1 - Complaint Form filed with the BC Human Rights Tribunal (10 Pages)
  • The letter of acceptance from the BC Human Rights Tribunal
  • All Amendment Forms you may have been required to complete to make changes to your Form 1- Complaint Form
  • All letters and documents you may have received from the BC Human Rights Tribunal, and the Respondent(s) named in your complaint.

It generally takes the Intake Committee 2-3 weeks to review your application for representation and to notify you in writing of the outcome of their decision. Representation is not guaranteed.
